General Studio Policies

  1. NO FOOD, DRINK, GUM OR CANDY IS PERMITTED INSIDE THE STUDIO! ANY AND ALL FOOD ITEMS AND DRINKS WILL BE CONFISCATED FROM STUDENTS VIOLATING THIS RULE. (This does not include GMA instructors.) Snacking should be done before students arrive for lessons and will not be tolerated in the studio.
  2. MAKE-UP LESSONS. Each student is allowed two makeup lessons per semester at the convenience of the instructor. Twenty-four hours notice to the instructor is required for cancellations in order to receive a make-up lesson. Instructors may choose to use outside performances, group & theory classes as make-up lessons. If a student misses or cancels a make-up lesson, another one will not be offered for that missed lesson. If an instructor misses or cancels a lesson, they will offer a make-up lesson at a later time. Do not pro-rate tuition as instructors have the right to offer an occasional make-up lesson at a later time.
  3. BAD WEATHER DAYS. Instructors will offer a one time, bad weather day makeup lesson at their convenience. No other make-ups will be offered if students cannot report for the make-up lesson. Bad weather days are defined by school closings for ice storms. However, if the roads are open, call your instructor to verify whether they will be teaching or not. Some out of town instructors may choose to reschedule but local instructors may decide to have lessons based current weather conditions. If parents decide not to report for lessons when the roads are open, then a make-up lesson will not be offered unless the instructor approves of the make-up lesson.
  4. PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY: It is the responsibility of each parent to be present during all individual lessons with their children if they feel it is necessary for supervision purposes. If parents choose not to be present during lessons, please make certain your child’s instructor has arrived before leaving him/her at the studio.

    • Parents should only drop off the student taking lessons no more than 10 minutes before lessons and should be waiting to pick them up immediately after their lesson has concluded.
    • Parents should instruct their children to wait inside the studio or instructor’s home until they arrive for pick-up. GMA and/or the instructors are not responsible if a child leaves the studio setting, walks home or takes a ride with anyone other than a parent. It is the parents responsibility to supervise their children before, during and after their child’s music lessons.
